**Terry taught me my high school math courses, which I took independently outside of the classroom. But Terry taught me more than math; he really showed my how to be a better student in all of my classes. No matter what is it was, the key to doing well was to practice, practice, practice!!! And because of his expertise and push I successfully finished Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, and Business and Consumer math under his instruction. I am now a freshman in college and probably wouldn't be if it wasn't for Terry helping me with math. I am positive that what I have learned from him will be used in these next four years. I am so fortunate to have worked with such a passionate educator and would  like to say thank you so much for being such a great instructor, keeping the 2 hour long lessons entertaining, and getting me through high school.

** The tutor sessions were invaluable during my junior year in high school.  This was the first time I had taken a tutor session.  Pre-calculus was a challenge throughout the school year, and I did not see Terry until the second semester.  Even though I received help later, it was not too late.  Terry clearly understood the math material and answered all of my questions.  He not only found solutions to math problems, but he also taught me the process of the final answer.  I believe understanding the working process is more important than finding the answer to the problem.  I remember Terry taught me a particular tip for better test preparation.  He told me to work on additional problems, besides the assigned homework, before the day of the exam.  This suggestion helped me steadily improve in pre-calculus.  Terry is an exceptional tutor because he reviews material taught in class, and also teaches students better study habits.

            In my senior year I saw a leap of improvement.  During the summer between junior and senior year Terry suggested that I strengthen my algebra skills and review Khan Academy so that I was prepared for calculus during the next school year.  I followed his advice, and saw big results.  I progressed receiving a C in pre-calculus to earning an A in calculus during the first semester.  I can only imagine this kind of result if I had seen Terry earlier during my junior year.  Terry is not only a tutor but also a mentor, if you are willing to put in the work to experience improvement.  Thanks to Terry’s mentorship I am more prepared for college.  If you are struggling in the math or sciences, I would highly recommend Terry as your tutor.

**I came to Terry with an above average math score on the SAT. After seeing my test report, he really helped me with my weak spots. We went through tests together and those questions that I didn’t understand or do them quickly enough, he graciously helped me with those and tried his best to show me the fastest way to solve each problem. **I worked with Terry for three months to get back up to speed with my math skills.  It had been a long time since I had taken any math, my last math class was in 1994 at Portland Community College.  I had never been great at math and had actually become scared to death of it.  I have had some really awful math teachers along the way, until I met with Terry.  He has an easy style to him which makes learning enjoyable and easy.  I was very pleased with the results I got.  I took a placement test in May at PCC and was put into Math 95.  I had taken the placement test in January and had been placed into Math 60.  Quite the improvement!  Thanks Terry.

**Terry has helped me bring up my grade in math from a C to an A.  He has helped me work on all my weak spots and has given me strategies that were very helpful. He has also taught me algebra and geometry which has helped me tremendously in class. **Terry never made me feel bad about having trouble getting Algebra.  He showed me how to understand how to do the problems, study better and encouraged me to study more.  Terry also was fun to work with because we shared interests in sports and music and he asked me about how I and the football team were doing at breaks and after the sessions.  He also tried to work around my football practice schedule and helped me get into Algebra even in late night sessions after football practice, when I was often very tired and just wanted to relax.  Terry helped me get a B in Algebra.
